BushwickLively and affordable, Bushwick has attracted many artists and hipsters who have found themselves priced out of adjacent Williamsburg. With quick access to both Manhattan and the cultural hub to the west, the neighborhood has become increasingly appealing to non-artists as well. There’s lots of range in the residential scene; in the northern, formerly industrial, section of the neighborhood, loft apartments are opening in old factories. In the southern and eastern parts of the neighborhood, children play on sidewalks as their parents chat with neighbors in front of clapboard walk-ups. Commercial offerings are beginning to develop, and bustling thoroughfares like Wyckoff Avenue have plenty of room for new shops and restaurants. |
