Sunnyside

Sunnyside was barely a twinkle in the eye of Queens before the Queensboro Bridge was completed in 1909, consisting mostly of small farms and marshland. The new portal linking Queens and Manhattan brought heavy residential development into Sunnyside, resulting in the neighborhood's signature 6-story apartment buildings and multi-story homes with front and rear gardens.

Paving the way for planned communities, Sunnyside Gardens is notable for it's pioneering placement of centralized courtyards among thickly settled blocks of homes and buildings. The clusters of residential communities peppered with small commercial strips and an abundance of amenities give Sunnyside both a suburban sensibility and an urban flair.

While the original Sunnyside Hill Farms was founded by French settlers in the 1800s, today the neighborhood hosts an extremely diverse population of communities from every continent. Served by the 7 train along the main thoroughfare of Queens Blvd, Sunnyside is an easy subway ride into midtown Manhattan.
